Green Day American Idiot revisited 20 years later

My first observation on this release is if you had not heard of GreenDay pre American Idiot then this was most likely your jump in point for their music this album got a lot of attention in mainstream I was seeing people who had never heard GreenDay until this release (apart from their earlier hits When I Come Around  and  Good Riddance (time Of Your Life). I was introduced to GreenDay through a friend (Skip95) a year or so prior to American Idiot (so I can claim I am in the pre American Idiot fan )

Our first introduction to this album was the single American Idiot released August 6th 2004 along with a music video then not long after the album was released on September 21st 2004.

One thing that stood out (maybe 2 things) were 2 tracks that were actually three songs(5 parts) rolled into a long track but flowed so nicely they were Jesus Of Suburbia (Jesus of Suburbia: 1 Jesus of Suburbia 2 City of the Damned 3 I Don't Care 4 Dearly Beloved 5 Tales of Another Broken Home") and Homecoming )1 "The Death of St. Jimmy" 2. "East 12th St." 3. "Nobody Likes You" 4. "Rock and Roll Girlfriend" 5. "We're Coming Home Again").

Usually when an album in highregards such as this one has an anniversary like the 20th sometimes there is word a special release is on the way and with this album you would be correct there is a 20thh anniversary release out on October 25th 2024 (atleast NZ release date) the deluxe release will consist of 4 CDs which feature the original album and also includes 15 unreleased demos, a 15-song 2004 concert from Irving Plaza, NYC (9 songs previously unreleased), and 14 tracks that were released as B-Sides and bonus tracks. The box set is completed with two Blu-rays that feature the film “Heart Like A Hand Grenade”, 35 minutes of Green Day live at the BBC, and a new, unreleased documentary: “20 Years of American Idiot” plus a 48-page book, an enamel pin set, sticker sheet, and cloth patch.

If you are a fan you certainly dont want to be an idiot and miss out on this release.
